From the last Disney trailer I saw, which was the live action Moana, Hexed is the rebound that Disney desperately needed. I appreciate the fact they are making an original animated film. This trailer felt slick with the magic elements incorporated into the story and I hope we get to see more animated films from Disney and not just sequels of previous animated movies or Pixar. (Not that I don’t love those movies, but we need more original voices/stories from not just Disney, but other studios today. Especially in the world of AI and live action remakes).

This story, while I’m not sure how everything will come together, but from what I see there is a ton of potential. Especially since the animators not leading on the “chosen one” trope, but rather focusing on the worldbuilding of magic. I appreciate that as it’s fresh and the colors match the tone of the world of magic Billie is exposed to.

One thing I note is why is a male teacher trying to break into a girl’s bathroom? Something about that didn’t sit right with me and I know Disney’s intentions are good, but him looking into the bathroom isn’t really appropriate. Hope the movie does clarify this though I know they will.

Disney is one the right path with this movie and I hope they stay on the path of original story/animation,
