Tina and Dylan’s Brief Friendship
In season 7’s episode, The Grand Mama-Pest, Tina is able to make a friend in Dylan while at a heroine conference. We see them hit it off right away by bonding about Bernadette Baker’s book. They had a natural friendship that you don’t see often in adult animation (e.g. South Park). Often, we see Tina hang out with Gene and Louise, Jimmy Jr., Zeke, and in rare occasions Jocelyn and Tammy. While those interactions are fun to see (minus Tammy), I do wish that Tina had more friendships. I know they explored this with Susmita, however it’s not consistent as it was in past episodes. I do wish Dylan became a recurring character because it would be nice to see Tina hang out with more characters outside of the family and students who go to WagStaff. I think this friendship had potential and maybe get insight as to why Dylan doesn’t want her mom to be around her and Tina shows her the positives of having a relationship with her mom.
This friendship had so much potential and I think the writers missed an opportunity with this in my opinion.
